Heather

Hello! My name's Heather and I review books on this page. I'm pretty much your typical book nerd and writer. I was one of those really quiet kids with a crazy imagination so my childhood was filled with memories of reading, writing (very poorly) about missing cats, and pretending my friends and I were fairies. Honestly most of my time is now spent trying my best not to get biscuit crumbs on my precious books. I'm just about to progress into my second year at Royal Holloway University, studying for a BA in English Literature. My degree is largely focused on Medieval Fiction (who can resist knights, magical otters and strange animals?!) and Modernism with elements of the Renaissance and novels from the end of the 19th century. With this in mind, I absolutely adore quirky and creative ways to tell a story, be it through the voice of an unorthodox narrator, an intriguing use of form or just a generally marvelous and unpredictable plot. Since starting this blog a few years ago, I've been exposed to books featuring reality TV stars, talking slugs, psychopaths, demons, unexpected saxophone scenes and so much more. Outside of the blog, I'm particularly fond of Agatha Christie's crime novels, Henry James, Phillip Pullman, Ali Smith, the Harry Potter and Narnia series and anything (even the dog biography) by Virginia Woolf.

My preferred genres include (but are not limited to): Crime/Detective Fiction, Fantasy, Dystopian Fiction, Thrillers, Young Adult, Experimental Fiction, Short Stories, Comedy, Adventure, Myths and Legends, Fairytales, Children's Literature, Realist Fiction and Poetry.

Generally speaking I don't review non-fiction books though I do have a personal interest in sociology or psychology related books, so I'm happy to receive those however writers should be aware that I have no qualifications in this area, so I'd just be reviewing it as a reader.

Feel free to contact me regarding book reviews, though I am currently booked up until 2019 so be aware that it may be posted quite late on. I look forward to reading more fantastic novels this year. Like the others, I'll be uploading a review once a month so please don't be disheartened if we don't have the time to review your book - it's nothing against you or your book, we just wish we had more time. Thanks for reading, hope you have a lovely day!
